Through the online platform "Kita-Portal", parents and guardians can get an overview of available childcare options, search for a suitable place and register their child digitally for a childcare place.
The Bremen Childcare Portal is the city of Bremen's central online platform for organizing childcare. Parents can use the portal to search for and find information about childcare places for their children in nurseries, kindergartens, or after-school care centers. A key function of the portal is the digital application process for childcare places. Parents can register their child and select several preferred facilities. The applications are then forwarded to the respective childcare centers, which decide on the allocation of places.
Furthermore, the portal provides information on facilities and childcare options. Parents can filter daycare centers by criteria such as neighborhood, type of care, or age group and gain an overview of available options. The daycare portal thus simplifies the administration and allocation of childcare places for families, providers, and authorities alike by digitally streamlining the registration and communication process.
The information is available in the following languages: German, Arabic, Bulgarian, English, Polish, French, Russian and Turkish.

Important information for parents and guardians who wish to register their child in a crèche, daycare center or after-school care program:
- The kindergarten year begins on August 1st . Register your child for this date. If you register your child for a different date, it will be more difficult to secure a place.
- If a facility has more applications than available places, the facility decides which children can be offered a place. There are established criteria , which are requested during the online application process. Therefore, please ensure you complete the application form in full. The following information is important: Do you have a certificate from the Social Services Office? Do you live or work near your preferred facility? Are you employed? Are you a single parent? Are there siblings already attending the same facility? Do you like the educational approach? For parent-run associations: Are you willing to support the association?
- establish a ranking for your chosen facilities . If you have only registered your child at one facility, be sure to select it as your first choice. If you have registered your child at more than one facility, you must decide on a ranking (first choice, second choice, third choice). Please note: The facility you select as your first choice will review your application first. If this facility cannot offer you a place, the next facility will be considered and your application reviewed.
