The registration period for childcare places for the 2025/2026 school year begins in Bremen in January, marking the start of the search for suitable places for infants and preschool children. Parents and guardians can register their children via the City of Bremen's childcare portal until January 31, 2025.
Open Day offers insights
What do the rooms look like? Is there an outdoor area? What educational concept does the facility follow? How long are the closing times?
To support parents and guardians in their search, the municipal provider KiTa Bremen, the numerous parents' associations of the city of Bremen, the denominational and independent providers as well as PiB – Pflegekinder in Bremen, the Bremen specialist service for child day care, invite you to information events and open days in January.
Registrations are handled via the daycare portal
The registration process for children in crèches and kindergartens takes place online via the City of Bremen's childcare portal at kitaportal.bremen.de . Parents can choose from childcare options across different providers and register their child there.
Applications for daycare must be submitted via the childcare portal by January 31, 2025, to be considered. In February, the registration period for after-school care children begins – also via the portal.

For questions and further information regarding online registration, all parents and guardians can contact parent service at the Senator for Children and Education Telephone: (0421) 361 92000 (Mon + Thu, 9-11 a.m. and Tue + Wed, 1:30-3:30 p.m.). Many daycare centers, parent associations, and nurseries are currently holding open house events. There you can get to know the center, see everything for yourself, meet the staff and learn about their educational approach, and ask any important questions.
