With the start of the school year on August 10th, the new academic year begins for around 5,700 first-graders in Bremen. Last year, the first-graders received the Bremen Holiday Compass timetable at the beginning of the school year. This year, 2024/25, the class teachers will again distribute the colorful timetable.

Support for organizing school and family life

“With the free timetable, children have their new school week at a glance, and it also offers all Bremen families valuable support for organizing school and family life,” says Barbara Peper from the Bremen Family Network. “The best part: when parents scan the QR code, they are taken directly to the website bremer-ferienkompass.de – and can search there for suitable childcare for their children during upcoming school holidays.”

Many filters make the search easier

Bremer-ferienkompass.de lists a selection of camps, workshops, courses, and programs for younger and older school children in various categories. Parents of children with disabilities can specifically search for inclusive options. It is also possible to filter by children's interests, proximity to home, dates and duration, as well as free or low-cost activities.

Holiday offers for every taste and every situation

"From sports camps and creative workshops to nature explorations, there's something for every holiday season and every taste," explains Barbara Peper. "The professional counselors ensure that the young people have fun in a safe and supportive environment, gaining new experiences and memories – an important treasure for growing up," adds the employee of the Bremen specialist center.

The “Bremen Holiday Compass” has been financed and promoted for several years by the Senator for Labour, Social Affairs, Youth and Integration.
