The German Child Benefit Foundation awards prizes to new or existing projects that promote the integration of children and young people and combat their exclusion and discrimination. The prize money is intended to help significantly expand a project or transfer it to another district in Bremen, thereby increasing its impact. New project ideas are also warmly welcomed.
The main focus is on projects that contribute to increasing equal opportunities through education, integration, or special support for children and young people. The goal is to support voluntary engagement and increase the visibility of projects. The application deadline is June 28, 2024.
Who can apply?
Clubs, non-profit organizations, or initiatives from Bremen or Bremerhaven are welcome to apply. It is important to us that the respective organization is committed to children and young people and that the project or project idea
will make a difference for them.
The German Child Benefit Foundation will award three prizes in 2024, totaling €10,000, €7,500, and €5,000, each accompanied by funding. Projects that do not win will also be reviewed for funding from the German Child Benefit Foundation Bremen. The foundation's board of directors will decide on the awarding of the prizes.
Applications must be submitted in writing or online. Applicants complete the form and describe the project idea, the project's goals and target groups, an implementation and financing plan, and potential cooperation partners on a maximum of three pages.
The German Child Benefit Foundation Bremen
The German Child Benefit Foundation is an initiative of Bremen citizens to promote new, non-profit projects aimed at creating equal opportunities for children and young people. It was founded to contribute to addressing current and future challenges facing our society. The foundation acts as a catalyst, financial support, project initiator, and innovation hub; its guiding principle is "integration"—integration through education, integration through sports, and integration through language.
In Bremen, one in four children is affected by poverty, and they quickly fall behind in their education because their families lack the money for many things. The German Child Benefit Foundation aims to provide compensatory support here: offering start-up funding or co-financing for projects or programs that enable disadvantaged children to overcome their initial disadvantages. The foundation supports demonstrably effective projects such as StudyFriends, mitKids Active Mentoring Programs, the Bremen Sports Academy, Theater 11, and many others.
The German Child Benefit Foundation Bremen is affiliated with the Bremen Civic Foundation as a trust foundation. The initial capital was raised by the foundation's initiators. In addition to the returns on the foundation's assets, the projects of the Child Benefit Foundation are supported by regular child benefit donations from high-income families who recognize a social inequality in the current tax regulations.
