Exchange and participation at the center
Under the motto "Strengthening Democracy for Parents – Participation, Family and Future: Parents at the Center – Exchange and Co-creation," a parents' conference for parents with and without a migration background, professionals, and representatives from politics and civil society will take place on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at the DGB House in Bremen. Registration is open until October 20.
Strengthen and make parental involvement more sustainable
As part of the project “E-DIT PLUS – Parent Conferences for Democratic Integration and Participation”, the Federal Parents' Network of Migrant Organizations for Education & Participation (bbt) invites parents with and without a migration background, professionals and representatives from politics and civil society with the aim of making perspectives from the practice of parent work visible, pooling experiences and providing impetus for stronger and sustainable parental participation.
The main topics of the day will be:
- What makes parents strong – experiences with family, school, youth welfare office and support structures
- Living democracy in everyday life – participating in shaping the neighborhood, in clubs and in initiatives
- Shared messages – three core concerns of parents to politics and society
Registration is possible until October 20th
Participation in the parents' conference is free, but registration is required. Childcare will be provided on site. Materials and information will be available in several languages. Those interested can register by October 20, 2025 at the latest: https://form.jotform.com/252432305306345
Empowering parents to actively engage in family, school and community matters
E-DIT Plus is a project of the Federal Parents' Network of Migrant Organizations for Education and Participation (bbt), funded by the Federal Program "Democracy Live!" of the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth (BMFSFJ), the Abriporta Foundation, and the Auridis Foundation. From January 2025 to December 2028, we are committed to empowering parents so that they are not only there for their children but also actively involved in their families, schools, and communities.
E-DIT Plus creates real spaces
Many parents have ideas, wishes, and questions, but often lack the right contacts, information, or the feeling that their opinion matters. E-DIT Plus creates genuine spaces for participation, exchange, and collaboration. It's about empowering one another, learning from each other, and shaping the future together.
The project at a glance:
- Parent conferences: Exchange, inspiration and practical tips – directly from parents for parents
- Peer-to-peer workshops: Learning from each other, sharing knowledge, and empowering one another
- Strong networks: Collaboration with local stakeholders such as the state association of migrant organizations – MigraNetz Thüringen eV and Yekmal Bremen eV.
Active on the ground: We work in Hildesheim (Lower Saxony), Gröpelingen (Bremen), and Weimar (Thuringia) – precisely where parents are often overlooked. The project works closely with migrant organizations, educational institutions, and local initiatives to ensure that parents are not only informed but also actively involved. The approach is dialogue-oriented, sustainable, and collaborative – for a society in which everyone can participate.
Parent conferences within the framework of E-DIT PLUS
The E-DIT PLUS project relies on the active participation of parents to strengthen democracy, diversity, and inclusion in structurally weak regions of Bremen, Thuringia, and Lower Saxony. Parents contribute valuable experience, perspectives, and ideas – they are the key to strong families and a sustainable society.
Have a say, participate, help shape the future
As part of E-DIT PLUS, two parent conferences will take place in 2025, one in Bremen and one in Weimar. These conferences will provide a forum for exchange, inspiration, and concrete solutions. Parents, professionals, policymakers, and civil society actors will work together to develop pathways for greater participation, equal opportunities, and inclusion.
