The Senator for Children and Education, Sascha Karolin Aulepp, is hosting the Kita Summit 2.0 on Thursday and Friday, March 7th and 8th, 2024, in cooperation with the University of Bremen. Parents, staff, providers, researchers, and administrative employees will meet with representatives from unions and politics, as well as other stakeholders in early childhood education, to discuss the following questions at the University of Bremen: What solutions are there for the current situation? What perspectives can and should be further developed?

“Every child in Bremen must have access to early childhood education. There’s no one-size-fits-all solution. To achieve this, we need creative solutions that take different interests into account. I hope that as many parents, daycare staff, and providers as possible will register for the daycare summit. Together, we can develop strategies that are fair to everyone,” said Senator for Children and Education, Sascha Karolin Aulepp.

Recruitment of skilled workers, expansion of daycare centers, parental involvement

Over two days, the daycare summit will combine expert presentations with topic-specific workshops. The focus will be on recruiting qualified staff, expanding daycare facilities, and parental involvement. Discussions will also cover digitalization in daycare centers and the use of apps and tablets in all groups. Another workshop will address the issue of work-life balance, incorporating the perspectives of both employees and employers.

The Quality Workshop focuses on concepts that address the needs of children and families in challenging circumstances. Participants include not only experts from the University of Bremen, but also the Child and Adolescent Health Service and a speech therapist.

Quality is also a focus

Quality development under challenging conditions is one of the key topics at the daycare summit. The Saarland Association of Professionals will present its "B & B" model – Education and Care from Saarland. Senator for Children and Education, Sascha Karolin Aulepp, can envision this model being implemented in Bremen as well – but what exactly does "B & B" mean? And how could it be implemented in the Hanseatic city?
