583 consultations at the Bremen location
The demand for counseling services offered by "Nummer gegen Kummer" (Number Against Sorrow) remains high. Last year, counselors nationwide provided support to children, young people, and parents in difficult situations in 117,934 consultations. Of these, 583 consultations took place in Bremen. The latest figures show that the demand for confidential and anonymous counseling remains strong!
Psychological stress, family conflicts, loneliness, self-harming behavior
In 2024, the most frequent concerns of young people seeking advice by phone and online were mental health issues, family conflicts, loneliness, and self-harming behavior. Parents also made extensive use of the "Number Against Worries" helpline, seeking advice on topics such as feeling overwhelmed and helpless in everyday parenting, their relationship with their child, and problems with their (ex-)partner.
Guidance and relief in times of crisis
In addition, the Helpline Ukraine helped people who had come to Germany from Ukraine to find their way in a new country and receive support in their own language. The free and anonymous counseling can offer guidance and relief, especially during times of ongoing crises and challenging social developments. Trained counselors focus on the individual resources of those seeking advice. This service will remain an important component in the future for strengthening young people and parents in difficult situations.
