"Number against Sorrow" provides support for worries about report cards
Mid-year report cards are a turning point in the school year for many students – often accompanied by mixed feelings. New family report: One in five families is headed by a single or separated parent
The 10th Family Report examines the living situations of single and separated parents, focusing on the dynamics of their lives. There are 1.7 million single parents with children under 18. The majority of single parents are mothers.
The daycare registration period runs until January 31st
January 13, 2025 – The registration period for daycare centers in Bremen begins in January, marking the start of the search for suitable childcare places for infants and preschool children. Parents and guardians can register their children via the City of Bremen's daycare portal until January 31.
Municipal language courses: Applications for providers possible until January 31st
January 10, 2025 – Ten years of municipal language courses in Bremen: The Senator for Labour, Social Affairs, Youth and Integration will continue to promote language courses in 2025 for immigrants who are not entitled to participate in integration courses offered by the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees.
What will change for families in 2025: child benefit, name law, minimum child support
January 6, 2025 – Several changes will affect families in the new year 2025: Among other things, child benefits, child supplements, minimum child support payments, and child tax allowances will increase. Name laws will be modernized, allowing married couples to choose a joint double surname combining both partners' family names starting in May 2025. Children can also receive such double surnames.

Free city ticket for Bremen children and young people remains guaranteed
December 11, 2024 – The Bremen Senate has decided to continue and fund the free city ticket for children and young people from 2025 onwards. This ensures that all eligible young people in the city of Bremen will continue to be able to use the public transport services of the Bremen/Lower Saxony Transport Association (VBN) free of charge.
