State Women's Representative on World Midwives Day: Midwifery centers a great success
May 3, 2024 – The shortage of skilled workers is one of the biggest problems in obstetrics, leading to a heavy burden on practicing midwives. According to the state midwives' association, many full-time positions are currently vacant.

The midwifery center in Vegesack offers care for women and expectant families through prenatal care, advice and help with complaints, postpartum care as well as breastfeeding and nutrition advice.
New service at the Gröpelingen early intervention center
The course “Babies in Motion” takes place in cooperation with the Midwifery Center West and is aimed at parents with babies aged between 3 and 6 months.
Violence protection clinic as a contact point for victims of domestic violence
The Violence Protection Clinic (GSA) has been operating at Bremen-Mitte Hospital since April 2024. This new center for forensic evidence collection following domestic and sexual violence expands the existing support services for victims of violence in Bremen. For the first time, dedicated facilities are available for examinations and counseling.
New regulations for births after April 1, 2024
New income limits apply to births after April 1, 2024. The rules for simultaneously receiving parental allowance are also being revised.
